As many of you will be aware, our esteemed landlord Richard Armstrong is moving on – which to us sounds like a perfect excuse for a good knees up. It would appear that Richard feels the same way, so make your way to the Cottage on the evening of Saturday 30th August to bid your farewells and enjoy another great night of Barton hospitality!
There will be a free buffet and burger bar, with beer at happy hour prices all night. Naturally I intend to be a model of restraint, and will probably have no more than two or three pints. Honest. There will also be a chance to meet our new landlady Julia, who will be serving behind the bar.
No decent party is complete without some live music, and we have both Rhythm KICS and Mark James to entertain us throughout the night. I have it on good authority that Rhythm KICS even have an extra special guest with them, a certain Mr Roland Boss. Be sure to come along and meet, er, him. (It will make sense on the night, trust me.) The guys will be playing their usual mix of pop, rock and blues covers from 8pm-9pm and then from 10pm-11pm. You can find more information, videos and recordings of their recent performance at the Black Horse Cider Festival in Shipston on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/rhythmkics Make sure you visit and give them a ‘like’!
Richard has been a fantastic supporter of the BVF in his time as landlord at the Cottage, and we thank him for that. Do try and make it down on Saturday, and let’s give him a send off to remember! (Or not remember, depending on how much the beer is…) See you there!
